In
1962, His Majesty King Hussein inaugurated the
first APM plant at Al Salalem, in the district of
Salt. Here, the original APM management and staff
first began planning to produce the earliest APM
signature products.
The Al Salalem plant is the nucleus of APM where
production first started in 1966 with laboratories
and machinery run by well trained personnel,
operating under approved manufacturing
regulations to develop a constantly expanding
range of products.

All production activity remained concentrated at Al
Salalem until the establishment of the second APM factory in
nearby Buhayra in 1984,
Measuring 22,000 square meters in area, the Buhayra plant is one of the most modern
pharmaceutical factories in the Arab world. Furnished with advanced machinery, the Buhayra factory was built in complete accordance with codes of Good
Manufacturing Practice.
